CHESTER, VA — The Bowie State University women's bowling team (11-1, 11-1 CIAA) dominated the lanes at the CIAA North/South Event I hosted by Virginia State University in Chester, Va., finishing 11-1 over the weekend.
On day one, in a five-person team match format, the Bulldogs went 4-1. Bowie State secured two victories over Virginia Union (933-565, 713-565), defeated Elizabeth City State 805-608, and split with Virginia State (674-701, 789-747).
The Bulldogs continued their strong play on day two, sweeping all four matches in the same format. They defeated ECSU twice (716-678, 905-600), VSU 764-639, and VUU 756-479.
Arianna Clayton led the way with a game-high 211 in the first match against Elizabeth City State, while
Janaye Monroe rolled a personal-best 209 in game four against the same team and finished the weekend with one of the top averages at 173.00.
On day three, competing in the Baker match format, BSU continued its dominance, sweeping all three matches against Virginia Union (803-515), Elizabeth City State (727-703), and Virginia State (770-769).
