Bowie State Set to Host CIAA Event III at Crofton Bowling Centre

BOWIE, MD -- The Bowie State women's bowling team will host the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Event III on Friday, Mar. 14 through Sunday, Mar. 16 at the Crofton Bowling Centre in Crofton, Md.

Bowie State will be joined by seven other CIAA institutions competing this weekend including Northern Division foes Virginia Union, Virginia State, Elizabeth City State, and Southern Division opponents Fayetteville State, Johnson C. Smith, Livingstone and Shaw. The event will begin on Friday (3/14) at 10:40 a.m. with team matches one through five, followed by team matches (1-4) on Saturday (3/15) starting at 8:40 a.m. Three Baker matches are set for Sunday (3/16) at 8:40 a.m.

Last Time Out
The Bulldogs had a strong showing at the CIAA Round-Up hosted by Fayetteville State on Feb. 21-23.  BSU posted a 4-1 mark during the opening day, securing wins over Johnson C. Smith (twice), Livingstone, and Shaw, with their only setback being a narrow 892-923 loss to Fayetteville State, despite a stellar 236-game performance from TaVera Johnson.

On Day 2, BSU bounced back with dominant play, winning four straight Baker games. They defeated Fayetteville State (994-904), overpowered Shaw (996-690), and dominated Johnson C. Smith (849-490). They wrapped up the weekend with a hard-fought 768-732 victory over Livingstone.

Bowie State's Johnson claimed the Northern Division Highest Average award and Arianna Clayton garnered the Northern Division Newcomer Highest Average.
