BOWIE, MD – The Bowie State women's bowling team (17–18, 11–1 CIAA, 11–1 North) heads to South Carolina this weekend for their first meet of the 2026 season, competing in the CIAA North/South Event II. The three-day event, hosted by Johnson C. Smith University, runs Friday, Feb. 6, through Sunday, Feb. 8, at Star and Strikes in Rock Hill, S.C.
Bulldogs Last Timeout
Bowie State concluded its 2025 season at the Garden State Classic, a three-day tournament hosted by Monmouth University featuring both Baker and traditional formats.
The Bulldogs opened competition on Friday with Format 2 Baker play (total pinfall), finishing 1–5. Bowie State dropped matches to Bryant (870–770), Morgan State (839–750), Mount St. Mary's (953–840), Adelphi (803–743), and Holy Family (853–682), before closing the day with a narrow 763–759 win over Holy Family in a rematch.
Saturday's traditional format play proved challenging as BSU fell to Long Island University (837–795), Felician (1052–720), Fairleigh Dickinson (1000–838), and Dominican (N.Y.) (790–744). Despite the results, the Bulldogs featured strong individual performances, highlighted by
Arianna Clayton's team-high 228 in game three against FDU and
Janaye Monroe's 209 in game four versus Dominican.
Bowie State wrapped up the tournament on Sunday with a Format 3 Baker competition, going 1–2. The Bulldogs earned an 860–814 victory over Holy Family before closing the meet with losses to host Monmouth (905–746) and Molloy (846–819).
