BOWIE, MD -- The Bowie State softball team (1-11) is set to compete in the Salem Invitational hosted by West Virginia Wesleyan College from Saturday, Mar. 14, through Sunday, Mar. 15 at the James I. Moyer Sports Complex in Salem, Va.
The Bulldogs will play a four-game slate this weekend, starting with Concord University at 10 a.m., followed by Salem University at 5 p.m., that same day. On day two, Bowie State will face Mansfield University at 10 a.m. before concluding the weekend against Slippery Rock University at noon.

BSU Leaders
- Mikayla Amos leads the Bulldogs at the plate with a .323 batting average, while also pacing the team in hits (10), total bases (15), and sharing the team lead with two doubles and one home run.
- Audrey Newell has been a key power contributor, ranking second on the team in slugging percentage (.429) while leading the squad with six RBI and five walks.
- Presleigh Braxton leads the team in runs scored (8) and at-bats (36), while also ranking among the leaders with eight hits, 12 total bases, and three stolen bases.
- Coreena Dunham has added offensive production with seven hits, five RBI, and a home run, while also contributing five runs scored for the Bulldogs.
- In the circle, Sydney Seals leads the pitching staff with a 4.92 ERA and 28 strikeouts in 21.1 innings, while Aaliyah Amos has logged a team-high 27.0 innings pitched with 21 strikeouts.
Scouting Bowie State
BSU continues to grow and gain valuable experience early in the 2026 season while competing against a tough non-conference slate. The Bulldogs have seen strong contributions at the plate from Amos (.323), Newell (.286), and
India Stokes (.294), with Newell leading the team with six RBI and providing leadership behind the plate.
In the circle, Seals has been a bright spot for the pitching staff, recording 28 strikeouts, while Amos has taken on a large workload in the rotation. BSU has also shown solid defensive flashes, posting a .933 team fielding percentage.
Scouting Concord
Concord enters the matchup with a strong 9–5 record and has been productive offensively, hitting .277 as a team with 72 runs scored. The lineup is led by Kendall Morgan (.362), Lacie Lewis (.310), and Alina Giles (.295), with Giles providing power with four home runs and a team-high 15 RBI.
In the circle, Madison Hollis has been the staff leader with a 6–2 record and a 3.52 ERA, while Reghan Hintz has added depth with 36 strikeouts. Defensively, CU has been solid with a .960 team fielding percentage and multiple players posting strong defensive numbers.
Scouting Salem
Salem softball comes into the matchup with a 2–7 record and is continuing to develop as the season progresses. The Tigers are hitting .203 as a team, led by Ali Shrieve (.381) and Alyssa Schultz (.238), while Brooke Wise has provided some power with a home run and three doubles.
In the circle, Franchesca Alvaro has been the most effective pitcher with a 3.07 ERA and a team-leading workload, while Kendall Lemley has also contributed valuable innings. Defensively, SU has been steady with a .956 team fielding percentage and several players posting perfect fielding marks.
Scouting Mansfield
Mansfield enters the matchup with a 2–2 record early in the 2026 season. The Mountaineers are hitting .255 as a team and are led offensively by Sarah Shupp, who is batting .500 (6-for-12) through the first four games, while Alex Reisinger adds a .400 average and a team-high five RBI.
In the circle, Emma Maurer has been the most effective arm, going 1–0 with a 0.00 ERA and 16 strikeouts over 9.1 innings pitched. MU's pitching staff owns a 2.42 team ERA and has recorded 28 strikeouts across 26 innings this season.
Scouting Slippery Rock
Slippery Rock brings a 5–5 overall record and a .279 team batting average through its first 10 games of the season. Maddie Cavenaugh leads the offense, hitting .444 with 16 hits, 14 RBI, and two home runs, while Alyssa Massucci is batting .370 with four doubles.
In the circle, Rachel Baker has been the top pitcher for The Rock, going 4–0 with a 1.50 ERA and 29 strikeouts over 28 innings pitched. As a staff, SRU owns a 4.14 ERA with 60 strikeouts across 66 innings this season.
