Mr. Henry earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education and a Master of
Education in special Education from Bowie State University. Mr. Henry was the first African American to integrate Buckingham Elementary School as a teacher in Bowie’s Belair Division and in Baltimore’s Hampden Robert Poole Dual School.

David Nicky Henry played Basketball for Bowie State. He was point guard in Bowie’s first win over Morgan State College (University), scoring 10 points. Maintained a 14 point average for three seasons.

Community service includes appointment as Docent for the African American Community of Cambridge, Maryland, Member of the Alumni Association for Mace’s Lane High School, Member of a research team for the history of Harriet Ross/Tubman, Pioneer for and erecting historical markers for the African American Community of Cambridge/Dorchester County, Maryland. Mr. Henry published two volumes of pictorial history about the African American community of Cambridge Maryland. In 1988 Mr. Henry was elected as Teacher of the Year.

David is married to Dorothy and the father of three.
