Mr. Keith Coates earned his Bachelor's Degree in Physical Education from Bowie State in
1979 and his Masters Equivalency in Secondary Education, Trinity University.

Mr. Keith Coates’ athletic journey began at Bowie State in 1974. During his football years at Bowie State, Keith Coates received numerous athletic achievements: ALL-State 1977-79, Black College All-Star Game - 1979, Co-Defensive Player of the Year 1979.

Keith Coates was a three time Defensive Player of the Year in Semi-Pro League with the
Metro Bucs and Metro Bulls; MDL Championship 1993, National Champions 93 - Metro Bulls; Fifteen time Semi-Pro All-League Linebacker with the Metro Bucs and Metro Bulls - 1980-1997. Coached Middle School Athletics for 10 years.

Keith community service includes appointment to the Deaconate Board and Evangelistic
Board. Served on the Bethlehem Baptist Social Action Committee. A member of Southern
Referee Association and referee Youth Football.

Keith is currently a Physical Education Teacher with the Prince George’s County Public
Schools and has over 32 years of experience in education. He is a member of the National
Teachers Association and Outstanding Names and Faces. He is a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.

Keith parents are: Reverend James E. Coates, Pastor Bethlehem Baptist Church, Washington, D.C. and Dr. Sandra P. Coates, retired Educator, DC Public Schools; Wife Deborah J. Coates and children: Sheldon K. Coates, Keith J. Coates, Alana Hawkins, Eril Elam, Sean Elam Sheldon Heard and Tiffany Gordon.
